Max Goodison

Max has spent 22 years operating at board level, including 14 years in chief executive roles. Max specialises in professional services organisations, having operated at board level in software, education and training, legal, financial, and consulting services businesses. His most recent CEO role was for a sizeable law firm in the south west of England.

Max has also been chief executive of a public-private partnership operating in the field of economic development, and a board member of a well known visual and performing arts centre during a period of major redevelopment involving some £8m of public grant funding. He holds degrees in modern languages, financial services, and business administration respectively from Durham University, Manchester UMIST, and the Cass Business School, London.

As a chief executive he has extensive experience of leading change in services businesses, particularly based around programmes to achieve service delivery excellence and service quality improvements, client care programmes, management skills development, effective management teams, and strategic change supported by technological innovation. He has also managed change in post acquisition and merger situations, both working on behalf of the acquiring business and also for the business being acquired, and in addition has worked with management teams who are introducing private equity funding into their businesses for the first time.

He trained as a ‘Merlin Mentor’ in the programme sponsored by SEEDA and through this programme has worked as a coach on a voluntary basis with a number of early stage businesses and their owners.

Earlier in his career he worked as a management consultant with KPMG Consulting, working with banks and other financial institutions to implement major information technology and process change programmes.
